"The most important lesson I've learned from sports is how to be not only a gracious winner, but a good loser as well. Not everyone wins all the time, as a matter of fact, no one wins all the time. Winning is the easy part, losing is really tough." continued
Welcome Incoming Ninth graders
Greetings to the parents of the Class of 2013. I just want to pass along two pieces of advice to you as your student begins his/her high school career at Floyd Central. High school will come and go much quicker than most parents and students realize. A successful high school career is much more than hard work and dedication to academics. It also involves organized preparation for what lies ahead after graduation. Whether your student is planning on going to college, to work, or into the military, it is crucial that you assist your student in planning his/her course requests each year. Matching these course requests to the student’s goal is extremely important. Our counseling staff has many “Counselor Night out” sessions to assist your son/daughter in planning their course schedule each year. The first night for freshmen is Thursday, August 6th. Make certain to mark that date on your calendar. My second piece of advice would be to make your student get involved! We have 19 varsity sports, over 15 clubs, NJROTC, and several performing arts programs from which to choose. By joining an organization, your student will make their high school experience a memorable one. Your guidance and encouragement through these high school years can make a definite impact.
